APOLLO project developes an intelligent tyre for better road traffic safety. 

In the intelligent tyre,  innovative sensors are integrated into tyres for monitoring its condition, road condition, and tyre-road interaction. Sensor signals are wirelessly transmitted from the tyre for interpretation of data. 

APOLLO is a 3-year project. It started in March 2002, and it is coordinated by VTT, Finland. The official contract number is IST-2001-34372.
