Project description
- Applying ICT for informing the food consumer - the TIVIK project
- TIVIK-project belongs to the FENIX
Technology Programme of Tekes (FENIX - Interactive Computing).
- Project duration: March 2003 - June 2005
Trial system

Background
- The consumer wants more and more information as a basis
for buying food products (origin, effects on health, etc.)
- Consumer needs for information are increasingly
different: more and more smaller consumer groups => product information
has to be tailored/personalized according to the recipient’s needs and
interests (e.g. weight management, lactose intolerance)
- Packaging information may be insufficient or difficult
to read
- Product information is not necessarily easy to obtain
elsewhere, particularly at the moment when it is most needed
- => Need for a system that delivers product information
to the consumer whenever he/she needs it in
accordance with his/her profile of interest
Aim of the project
- The purpose of the TIVIK project is to develop a pilot
information system, which will be tested in the field
- The goal is to develop a user interface, information
content, service and a business model
- The pilot system and business model serve as the basis
for commercialising the system after the project
