The maritime application will demonstrate the image production and delivery chain from satellite data to the end-users, where the end-users are near-real-time end users at sea, i.e. accessible only via a slow telecommunications link.

A core part of the application is the Façade. The Facade takes care of the delivery part of the chain controlled by the profile settings that describe the capabilities and the needs of the client. At least two data sources (MODIS and NOAA/AVHRR) will be used when selecting the product to be delivered to the End-user.

During the application development, multiclient possibilities are studied i.e. to deliver the same contents to different types of clients – with a simple web browser as one type.

The maritime application provides relevant satellite images and weather prognosis for ship route planning support.
