Project results

The objective of the forestry application is to develop methods and software for producing forest resource maps of various regions in the world.

The individual maps should cover large areas, e.g. the whole of Finland. The primary outcome of the application development is a software that includes data processing algorithms.

The software can be used for performing the estimation of forest stand characteristics - or forest variables - using different types of ground data and satellite imagery with a variety of ground resolutions.
 

The forestry application can provide accurate forestry maps for large areas.

The Envimon Forestry web application displays the selected tree species plots and the observed tree locations over a forest ground image map.
