Disaster monitoring application

The disaster monitoring application provides analysis methods and procedures to provide timely information of a disaster at its different phases, mitigation, warning, response, and recovery.

The prototype system is focused on using Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) data for detecting topographic changes caused by landslides and for extracting water area changes caused by floods.

As the end product, an image data with damaged area information is published through internet and delivered to multi-level users on appropriate devices.

The disaster monitoring application uses remote sensing data for early warning, mitigation, and management of natural disasters such as landslides, floodings or earthquakes.

The Disaster Monitoring application is used for producing damage are maps over disaster sites. A flooding area for example can be determined automatically from SAR satellite images by applying a specific water area extraction method.
