Next Media research programme (planned for 2010-2013)
aims at innovations in media experience, in new business
models, concepts and technology. The main objective of the
programme is to renew the business environment of the media
sector by breaking the limits of media content and changing the
way it is created, configured, serviced and consumed.Production
and consumption of media is under radical transformation.
Digitalization of production, distribution and consumption of
media as well as the growing penetration of broadband access and
mobile Internet allow increasingly rich media content to be
distributed to a variety of terminals. This endeavour takes
advantage of the current transition towards co-creation,
interactivity and independency of time and place. The diversity
of terminals and devices in consumers’ everyday life is
increasing and the significance of mobility is emphasized.
