Power measurement at millimetre wave frequencies has applications in the research and design of multipliers, oscillators, amplifiers etc. MilliLab offers mm-wave power measurement facilities up to 170 GHz (over 170 GHz mainly with quasioptical power meter) according to the following table.
| Frequency range | 50 MHz - 50 GHz | 75 - 110 GHz | 26.5 - 170 (-220) GHz | 30 - 3000 GHz |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Power meter | Hewlett Packard 437B | Anritsu ML83A | Dorado DPM-2, DPM-2A | TK TeraHertz Absolute Power Meter System |
| Detector type | Thermocouple (HP8487A) |
Thin-film thermocouple (Anritsu MP81B) |
Dry calorimeter (Dorado PS-28-6, PS-28-6A) |
Quasioptical thermoacoustic (TK Head) |
| Maximum power | +20 dBm | +20 dBm | +30 dBm | about +20 dBm |
| Noise level | -30 dBm | -30 dBm | -20 dBm | about -20 dBm |
| RF interface | 2.4 mm coaxial connector | WR-10 waveguide flange | A set of waveguide flanges up to WR-5 | Waveguide flange / horn antenna |
| Input VSWR | 50 - 100 MHz: 1.15 100 MHz - 2 GHz: 1.10 2 - 12.4 GHz: 1.15 12.4 - 18 GHz: 1.20 18 - 26.5 GHz: 1.25 26.5 - 40 GHz: 1.30 40 - 50 GHz: 1.50 |
Typically better than 1.5 | Typically better than 2.0 | Good (depends on antenna) |
