3. Documentation

To verify that the requirements presented in this chapter are met, the following documentation is required:

  • Layout of mooring points and equipment;
  • Sum, weight and type of anchors.

4. Mooring equipment

4.1. All craft shall be fitted with at least one mooring cleat or bollard forward and one aft. When two cleats or bollards are fitted forward or aft, they shall be located as near as possible to the deck edge.

4.2. At least one cleat or bollard forward and one aft shall be located to facilitate towing.

4.3. Cleats and bollards shall be strongly designed and mounted. The cleat or bollard, including its fastening, shall be capable of withstanding a horizontal tensile load P:

      P = 50× D/LH [N]

      Where D D is the loaded displacement mass in kg.

4.4. Appropriate reinforcements shall be provided in the way of cleats and bollards. Bolts, nuts and other mounting details shall be made of corrosion resistant material.

4.5. The craft shall be equipped with at least three mooring ropes of a length and minimum breaking strength given in the diagram in Figure 1.

5. Anchoring equipment

5.1. The anchor weight for design category A is given in Figure 1. For other design categories the requirement shall be determined by multiplying the weight for design category A with the coefficients given in Table 1.

5.2. The required anchor weights are based on traditional anchor types. If the anchor is of a type with extra-high holding capacity, e.g. anchors approved by a recognized classification society with the designation "High Holding Power", the required anchor weight may be reduced up to 25%.The anchor shall be not less than 10 kg.

5.3. It is allowed to cover anchor weight required in 5.1 and 5.2 with two anchors. In such case, one anchor shall have at least 2/3 mass of required amount of anchor weight. Single anchor may not weight less than 10 kg.

5.4.The craft shall be equipped with one anchor cable or chain of a length and minimum breaking strength given in the diagram in Figure 1.

5.5. The anchor shall be equipped with a short chain-cable of a length and dimension according to the diagram in Figure 1.

5.6. The anchor equipment shall be suitably located to facilitate rapid and safe deployment.
